The Trial 

 

After Margaret Garner was stopped from killing all her children her and the other runaway slaves were sent to jail.  The long trial that took several weeks the U.S. commishioner finally came to a ruling the runaways go back to slavery in Kentucky. While the other's were returned to Kentucky Margaret was sold to a southern state Mississippi. Before their arrival to Mississippi, the ship that was transferring Garner and her children wrecked one of her children died as a result but Margaret Garner survived. Garner remained a slave for two additional years where she died from typhoid disease in 1858.
