ABOUT ME

Margaret Garner was a slave from Boone county, Kentucky who ran away from kentucky to Ohio in January of 1856 for a better life for her family along with other slave families.  Crossed a frozen river to get to Ohio.Robert Garner [Margaret's husband] stole the masters horses, guns , and as well as a sleigh. Seventeen people were reported to have ran away with the Garner family. Slave catchers and the U.S. Marshalls found the Garners inside of the KIte's house. Robert Garner fired several shots and wounded one marshall. Margaret Garner slit her two year old daughter throat rather than to see her brought back to slavery. She wounded her other children and attempted to kill her self until the slave catchers and the U.S. Marshalls stopped her.
