Garner

Margaret Garner was a slave in the mid 1800's who left an impact on many civilians and other slaves . Garner was 26 years old, and had five children when she decided to runaway with her family on a snowy night to Cincinnati,Ohio where she hid in a African- American genteman's house. Margaret felt by taking her children to Ohio a free state that her kids could live a better life but little did she know that her master and the U.S. Marshalls would be searching for her and her family.  Garner knew the goverment officials and her master were here to take away her and her family so without a doubt Margaret slit her two year old daughters throat attempted to kill her other children and herself until she was stopped. Many would believe this act was courageous as many would believe that Garner may have suffered from a mental disability for killing her own child. In my own opinion I would say this was a courageous act Garner and her children were biracial so therefore  they would be breeder's as threy got older , wet nurses or even get raped by their master since mullato women were worth a lot of money.

Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and is known as abolitionist she led hundreds through the route of the underground railroad. Tubman was born in 1820 and fully escaped slavery in 1849 due to her slave owners death. Physical violence was part of Harriet's life which caused physical permanent damages to her. Tubman married a free black man in 1844 named John Tubman. Any children that the tubman may have had would have been enslaved. In 1849 Harriet fled to Philidelphia where she helped set her family free of slavery. Harriet earned the nickname 'moses' for her leadership. With the fugititve slave law in effect Harriet was able to change the Underground Railroad route to Canada.
